Mixed Media Altered Plate "Believe in Magic "

I made this project right after I watched the movie "The Shape of water". I just cannot stop the images in my head and that fit completely the Feb Mixed Media Place challenge , so this is an entry for that. The photo is the final scene of the happy ever after of the two lovers.

Firstly, I am inspired by the COLORS of the moodboard, the teal, the green, the turquoise , combined into a perfect imagine in my head of how the under water would look like.

Secondly, one of the main focus of this piece is WATER, itself. I used Finnabair Art Alchemy Metallique Mermaid Teal to create this view of the inside of the water. Not to forget to add many many glitters , sequins, beads, glass glitters for the surface. Because under the water, it is a magical world !!

Around the edge, I made some dimensional area as inspired by the depth and mysterious tone of the pictures in the moodboard. Moss, fabric thread, Finnabair mega art and mini art stone are used as the base. I also put some Paper paste on here and there for more texture. After dried I painted with new Metallique color Golden moss, mermaid teal again and then some mixture of the two with Gold amber.

I have used  Art Ingredients Melange in different size to represent the circles and curve I found in the moodboard, they are also the symbol of water drops and togetherness through the theme of the movie.

Finally, the title of this piece is "believe in Magic" which is the main idea of the movie and also , I regard it as the spirit of the Feb challenge.

Here is a list of products I have used for this project :
 Art Alchemy  Metallique
- Mermaid Teal/Gold Amber/Golden Moss/ Rustic Brown
Art Ingredients Melange
Art Ingredients Glass Glitter Platinum
Art Extravagance Glitter Set Mardi Grass

Last but not least, an extra addition of this piece, is a light off version of the scene.
I  really LOVE this month ' s moodboard and thank you so much for the great inspirations!
